Planning Permission for College Campus Development

Transport Planning Associates is pleased to announce that planning permission has been achieved for the enhancement and improvement of East Berkshire College’s Langley campus. The development comprises internal reconfiguration of existing teaching accommodation, provision of sports centre measuring 1,686m2 (Use Class D2), hospitality suite measuring 739m2 (Use Class D1),  Multi Use Games Area measuring 1,435m2 (Use Class D2) and 342 replacement car parking spaces together with landscaping. We prepared a Transport Statement and Travel Plan in support of the planning application.

Planning Permission for 800 Seater Church

Transport Planning Associates is pleased to announce that planning permission for a change of use at 45 Thames Road, Barking to provide a 800 Seater Place of Worship for Christ Embassy Docklands and associated office space, subject to completion of a S106 Agreement.  Members of the London Borough of Barking and Dagenham Development Control Board voted in favour of the proposals at the July Development Board.

An extensive set of travel planning initiatives are proposed including a “Special Service” bus route specifically for the congregation as well as on-going monitoring of the site car park with the addition of softer travel plan initiatives.

The Transport Planning Associates Award at UWE 

Bristol based Director Craig Rawlinson presented a prize sponsored by TPA for the best performing student of the year at the Annual Masters dissertation showcase for the MSc in Transport Planning course at the University of the West of England (UWE).  The showcasevwas held on Thursday 26 July by UWE and was co-hosted with the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.  The best performing student was Rosemary Starr who presented the findings of her dissertation. Two other graduates and the transport and health specialist Dr Adrian Davis of NHS Bristol also made presentations.

Craig Rawlinson writes for Transportation Professional

Bristol based Director, Craig Rawlinson recently took part in the Debate section of the July edition of the Transportation Professional, the magazine of the Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation.  The Subject for the debate was ‘Do you think the Olympic Games has been good for transport investment in the UK?’, Craig was handed the task of providing the case for the No answer to the Question, with Sheila Holden, Director of The Step Consultancy providing the case for the Yes answer.

Bristol Rovers new stadium plans approved

Transport Planning Associates is pleased to announce that planning permission for a new 21,700-seater stadium for Bristol Rovers have been approved, subject to completion of a S106 Agreement.  South Gloucestershire County councillors voted 12-1 for the development at Stoke Gifford next to the University of the West of England campus.

A comprehensive set of traffic management and travel planning initiatives are proposed as part of the development, including a Stadium Events Travel Management Plan and a local residents Stadium Events Permit parking scheme.  This includes for example mechanisms for on-going monitoring, the release of additional car parking spaces, shuttle buses and ‘soft’ travel plan initiatives, all to be linked to forecast attendances to enable an appropriate balance between car based and sustainable modes of travel to be achieved. 

The plans for the stadium, also include a club shop, bar, gym, offices, and car park. A teaching space for the University of the West of England will also be incorporated within the development and the sports facilities will be available for its use, in a unique partnership between the club and the education provider.
