Dave Tighe announces his retirement

Thirteen years after starting Transport Planning Associates (previously Pinnacle Transportation) with Rupert Lyons, Dave Tighe has announced that he is to retire as a Director next March.

When we started Transport Planning Associates, our aim was to provide the best possible service for our clients and I believe that this guiding ethos is what has helped us grow to become one of the most effective transport consultancies in the UK.

There has been no better job than working with our staff and helping them to develop into the group of talented professionals we now employ, whilst at the same time turning sites that could not be
developed into sites that can.  Both the Bristol and Cardiff offices have been the source of much pleasure over the years.

We have strengthened the board of directors and the senior management team over the years, and I am confident that they will continue to drive the business forwards whilst maintaining the high level of client satisfaction that has been consistently achieved over the years.”

Craig Rawlinson and David Knight will take over the day to day management of the Bristol office, and Craig will also help to manage the Cardiff Office.  Dave will continue to act as a consultant
following his retirement.

Craig joined TPA in 1999 and was appointed a Director in 2008.  He has worked closely with Dave over the past decade of his fifteen years of experience.  David Knight is a well respected transport consultant
with over twenty years consultancy experience.  He joined TPA as a Director in 2009.

Appeal Success in Bath...

Transport Planning Associates is pleased to announce that following a recent Public Inquiry, planning permission has been granted for a change of land use from B1(a) Office to A1 Retail on a site including four proposed parking spaces at Wellsway in Bath.  Bristol based Director Craig Rawlinson provided expert highway engineering and transport planning evidence to the Inquiry to counter the Council’s allegation that the proposals would be detrimental to highway safety.

The Inspector agreed with our arguments that the site was sustainably located, that deliveries could be accommodated from the road side and that on-site and off-site highway works would represent significant highway safety improvements.  The Inspector concluded that the appeal proposal “…would provide safe and convenient access for pedestrians and cyclists…” and that it would “…not increase on-street parking in the vicinity to an extent that it would detract from highway safety or residential amenity…”.

Craig Rawlinson said “…the A1 retail use in this location, together with proposed local highway improvements, will help promote sustainable travel in the area and reflects the spirit of national planning policy objectives”.

Residential care home appeal success in Bristol…

Transport Planning Associates is pleased to announce that following the submission of a written statement, planning permission has been granted for a 52 bed space care home facility in the Brislington area of Bristol.  Bristol based principal engineer James Chequer provided the evidence to counter the Council’s allegation that the proposal would lead to excessive vehicle movements creating a detriment in highway safety.

The Inspector accepted that the development would not be detrimental to the efficient and safe operation of the highway network when he concluded that “…increased traffic would be well within the capacity of the carriageway…” serving the site.  He further agreed that “the number of parking spaces to be provided as part of the proposal would be compatible with the principles of sustainable development…”.

Bristol based Director Craig Rawlinson commented that “…we consider that the levels of traffic and parking that will be generated are compatible with the surrounding environment and the Inspector has agreed with our arguments that the proposal would not have a harmful effect on highway safety”.
